Do Better Promise

The Inception

As parents we all want our children to do better and children as they grow look back, sometimes generations, to understand where they came from. Often times we, as people, get caught up in life’s cycles and don't have the thought or capability to break out of the cycle.  Help set the wheels in motion.  Give a gift that can truly keep giving. Let’s start a trend that can last generations, it all starts with a handshake and a promise.

Well, this was the initial thought. Basically a promise contract between parent and child. Working with our children and have them promise to do better than us.  After giving it lots of thought we decided that the do better promise can be bigger than that.  It should be about us all striving to do better on a daily basis.

The Logo

We put a lot of thought into the design and meaning behind our logo.  The handshake is meant to symbolize an agreement. Some of the biggest deals in business are forged with this gesture. The slogan has just as much meaning: Aspire - establish the goal and work to achieve it. Achieve - stay focused and do what is necessary to keep your promise, realize your goal, reach your aspirations and advance. Advance - move the do better promise forward as you advance and start the promise cycle again.

The color scheme is a compilation of strength, unity and desire.  Gold is a precious metal; the color gold represents the precious relationship between parent and child.  Green represents springtime, new growth - nature in bloom.  The roots of the family growing stronger.  Red, yellow and orange represents fire.  The Do Better Promise should create a burning desire within you to excel and keep the cycle going.

The Poem

I became a parent before I had a plan

Just starting life didn’t really understand

I played, I partied, I lived life on the wild

Now bearing the responsibility of raising a child

I had no job, no career, with limited skills I got by

Feeling the pressures of life had me wondering why

Why me, why now, I have much more to learn

These trials of life will force you to accept its terms

As you grew I grew; we are alike in many ways

Looking at you fondly I start to cherish those days

You are growing to become a replica of me

I guess it’s true what they say about the apple and the tree

Although I am proud I’ve learned the hard way

There’s a balance in life between work and play

Be strong but be civil, be respectful to all

Prepare for life’s lessons and brace for the falls

As you start your own journey remember this letter

Always pay it forward and keep this promise to do better!

The Future

We really believe in this.  We would love to see millions of people accept the promise, download our poem and talk to their children about doing better.  It doesn't have to be about doing better than their parents just doing better in life.

If you can wash, rinse and repeat than you can easily adopt the do better promise and become a promise keeper.
